Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH) supports, encourages, and promotes the development and delivery of services to alleviate, prevent homelessness and address the issue of poor housing. Created by four Founding Mothers, CATH works with others to improve the circumstances faced by people challenged by homelessness in all its forms in the Perth & Kinross Council area. 

CATH are a multi-functional organisation where they operate and provide services including:

• The CATH Shop

• CATH Day Centre

• CATH Floating Support

• Literacy and Numeracy Learning Project

• Outreach

• Tayview House residential unit

CATH have also started a Through Care Service in partnership with HMP Perth, CJS and Perth and Kinross Alcohol and Drug Partnership to provide support prior to and after release from HMP Perth.

The Role

The opportunity has arisen for a new Trustee to join the CATH team. As a trustee of CATH, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the organisation’s operations and ensuring its mission of addressing homelessness and poor housing is fulfilled. Responsibilities also include compliance with Governance Documents and Law, resource management, supporting key strategy points whilst at all times, being an ambassador for the organisation. 

The incoming Trustee should have a sound understanding of financial concepts coupled with experience in the delivery of financial plans, position and budgets whilst adhering to the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of a Trustee. 

Good communication and leadership skills are desirable, with the ability to problem solve in a team environment. Previous board experience would be advantageous, demonstrating knowledge and experience of delivering financial updates, charity accounting and understanding of charity fundraising.
