CrossReach

Early in 2014, our governing Council made the decision to seek specialist advice for a far-reaching Income Generation Strategy at CrossReach, a strategy which will sustain and grow the organisation’s ambition to be the leading provider of social care the length and breadth of Scotland.

Various parties were invited to tender for the work and BTA stood out with the quality and thoroughness of their proposal. Similarly thorough and insightful was the Capability Report which we then asked BTA to prepare for us.

This was an extensive piece of work involving detailed analysis gathered directly from key personnel at CrossReach. We were particularly impressed with the very precise recommendations which accompanied this analysis.

On the strength of these, BTA were engaged to conduct further audits of our supporter database management system and communications tools and to sum up all their findings in a full Fundraising Strategy.

The resulting blueprint provides CrossReach with the opportunity to grow income significantly and sustainably over a three year period. The Strategy contains detailed costings including the option, but no obligation, to use the extensive specialist knowledge of individual consultants and associates at BTA to help with the implementation of the plan.

We chose to have BTA participate in the interview process for a key appointment as part of the Strategy and their involvement, at senior director level, was invaluable to the recruitment process.

Besides having no hesitation in recommending BTA highly for their professional acumen, I have found it a joy to witness the enthusiasm, sensitivity and extreme courtesy with which all at BTA have engaged with the staff at CrossReach.

In conclusion, I can honestly say that BTA have more than helped CrossReach to further our mission and vision; they have inspired us and encouraged us along the way.

The BTA Associate transformed our development activities and established a strategic direction for our work, which is enabling us to grow and extend our reach well beyond our traditional core business. Given the pressures and challenges for all third sector organisations, we needed to develop and diversify. BTA’s vision and understanding of this strategic context has enabled us to achieve this while remaining true to our core values and aims. Despite working one-two days a week, the BTA Associate completed the following:

  • A development strategy for our income generation activities
  • A reorganization of, and increased staffing for, our development team
  • Secured new corporate partners and funding for our work
  • A fundraising panel of champions of our work to support our fundraising activities
  • As a member of our senior management team, the Associate provided peer support to the Chief Executive and Deputy CEO together with line management and professional support to the Development team
  • Led the team which has increased our membership by 30%; increased our media presence; our social media reach and exceeded funding targets for our development activities, such as training
  • Secured additional funding opportunities from major grant bodies.
  • Supported new areas of funding for our new programmes.
  • BTA has left us with a strong legacy and foundation to enable us to continue to grow and develop.
