Full Description

Something truly special is happening in Cumbernauld as the successful Theatre Trust moves into a new era and embarks on a new arts centre.

Cumbernauld Theatre is embedded in the local community and has a strong reputation for innovative and creative artistic performances. It is very much accessible to its core audiences and is committed to education and community outreach.

Cumbernauld Theatre believes strongly in the power of the arts to enrich lives, communities and the nation. At present, they have a vibrant and exciting community-focused arts venue successfully producing and presenting over 160 performances a year. They also deliver popular community-development projects and last year hosted over 500 theatre-related classes and workshops for adults and children.

They work together with North Lanarkshire secondary schools and enjoy a healthy relationship with Creative Scotland.

Located in some of the most deprived areas of Scotland, Cumbernauld Theatre has an opportunity to develop from a successful local theatre to a diverse and noteworthy arts organisation of regional significance.

North Lanarkshire Council have invested in a brand new, purpose-build arts centre adjacent to the new Cumbernauld Academy. Cumbernauld Theatre’s aim is to raise £1.2 million to fit out the new centre and operate it for the next 25 years. The new arts facility has the power to transform the community by establishing a thriving social and cultural hub for Cumbernauld and North Lanarkshire. To get the project underway and drive it to completion, they need a new Board Chair who will be a strategic leader able to inspire, stimulate discussion at all levels and facilitate timely decision-making. You will need a knowledge of the performing arts, be well-networked across public, private and third sectors and able to influence and communicate effectively.

This is a chance for an exceptional person to make a real difference to the local community and have a wider impact across the whole of Scotland.
